Hello everyone! We hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend, we have a few updates and the Weekly Schedule for everyone in the Choir Department!
-Attention all students/parents enrolled in voice and piano lessons this semester: We have had an INCREDIBLE response in signing up for private lessons this year with 13 piano students and 48 voice students! Very few high school choral departments can boast such great numbers of students enrolling in private lessons. This speaks very highly of you and your dedication to improving yourself as a musician and a person. This will help not only you personally, but your teammates in choir, become the best musicians we can be…we are so excited for this!
Attached to this post is a schedule for lessons the semester. Please make sure to pay your teacher directly, NOT the Choral Department. Because of the large number of students enrolled in voice lessons specifically, we are asking for everyone’s patience for the next couple of weeks as we continue to work out teacher and student schedules. Note that if you are listed as a student of “Voice Teacher #3” that you will not be able to begin lessons this week, as we still have a few schedules to work out. Thank you to all who signed up…we are so looking forward to seeing your progress this year!
-Please do not forget to sign up for a shift to volunteer at our Swingfry event held on Saturday, Nov. 5. The performance schedule is on the Swingfry Tab (it has changed slightly in the last few days, so please look at it to make sure you have the most up-to-date information). This is the one of the largest fundraisers for the Choral Department, so if you have a child that participates in choir, please make sure you sign up for this ASAP! You also can have friends, family and neighbors sign-up too…this is a very fun event to volunteer for 🙂
-The September Parent Meeting is on Tuesday, September 13 at 7:30pm in the choir room. Lyle Miller is offering a FREE $10 car wash at Caribbean Auto Spa for all parents/families that attend this meeting (Limit one per family…Thank you, Lyle!) – This meeting will mostly cover the Swingfry and the volunteering needs we have, as well as additional information about the Garage sale held on the 17th. We strongly encourage you to attend!
-We have begun sending September invoices home with students. Every family should have their invoice by tomorrow (Tuesday, September 7). Please review and make sure you are caught up on the payment schedule or have spoken with a choral director about alternate arrangements so that we can continue to provide the best resources to your students.
-ATTENTION: the fall fundraiser (popcorn and other edibles) forms and money are due by tomorrow, September 7. Remember, we are asking that each student attempt to sell a minimum of 12 items to help offset costs to the Choral Department that are not covered by student fees (any profit made from additional items sold will go directly to the student’s account). Thank you for your help with this!
-This is a friendly reminder that the required Northern Lights Parent meeting will take place on Thursday, September 22 at 6:30. We are asking that at least one parent/guardian for each student attend this short 30-45 minute meeting.
-The Starlights Parent Meeting will be held tentatively on Thursday, October 6 at 6:30pm. Please pencil that date/time in and wait for further confirmation this week.
-If you have questions about things going on in the Choir Department, please make sure you are going on the website and contacting the specific staff member that can assist you with that. The MMPA Facebook page is for announcements and unfortunately is not the best source to ask questions on. If you have a question, click on the Contact Tab at the top and that will direct you to the proper person to get ahold of 🙂
Tuesday: Starlights Rehearsal from 6:30 to 9:30
