2018-2019 Lyric Lights Cast List

2018-2019 Chamber Lights Cast List

Thank you for being patient with us as we put the cast lists together for next year! It has taken a lot of time and discussion, but we feel like we have some awesome casts for each choir next year!

Below are the rosters for the 2018-2019 Northridge Choirs.  We are very excited about the amount of talent in each ensemble!  Please keep in mind that if spots open up in competition ensembles, we will only select from students enrolled in a choir.

At the end of this post, you will also see an attachment for the “general” rehearsal schedule for Starlights and Northern Lights next year. The schedule looks very similar to last year, but please keep in mind this is subject to change.

If you auditioned and signed up for choir and your name does not appear on any list, please contact Mr. Shafer or Mrs. Yoder right away. There is a place for EVERYONE in the Northridge Choral Department and we want to make sure we get you in the right place! If you know of anyone still interested in being in choir, it is NOT too late for them to sing for a placement in one of our non-competitive choirs.  We highly encourage you to talk to friends and family and keep promoting Northridge Choirs!

Once again, thank you to all who have registered and auditioned for our groups!  We are excited to have you and your families involved in the Choral Department next year!  Enjoy your Spring Break!

Mr. Shafer & Mrs. Yoder

A letter to Students and Parents from Mr. Shafer

Dear Students & Parents,
I am incredibly proud of this organization! As I reflect on the year we have shared together, I am continually reminded of the hard work and dedication that has lead us to where we are today. I am thankful for the trust that was placed in me to lead us on the musical journey we have been on together since July. Now, as we near the end of the journey, we can look back, remember the fun, and realize what it takes to reach higher levels of excellence.
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of my resignation from Middlebury Community Schools as Director of Choirs at Northridge High School as I pursue another choral director position for the 2018-2019 school year. I am seeking some different opportunities and relocating to be closer to where I am from and my family. I know you will embrace your new director and continue to take your tremendous amount of talent and refine it into skill in order to represent your school and community in the best way possible.
To my wonderful students…
I have fond memories working with each and every one of you on vocal technique and seeing the “light bulbs” go off as you began to grasp concepts and refine your skill even more. I will not forget bonding with you in class, rehearsals we had, and of course the many competitive performances we participated in together. You are all so very special to me. Now, go forward and challenge each other to be the excellent performers you and I know you are!
To our supportive parents…
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Parents are a critical asset to a successful choral program. Without the support of the parents, the program simply would not function. I will not forget chatting with many of you to and from competitions, many of you bringing in food for Saturday lunches, or the outpouring of support from many towards me as the director of the program. I know you will support your students in their continued pursuit of excellence!
To my colleagues….
Thank you to all of you for your continued support and patience as I navigated directing 0our choral program. We should be incredibly proud of what kind of program is established here at NHS and I am sure it will continue to grow in the future. Your words of kindness and wisdom have meant a lot to me as the year has progressed. I am especially thankful to my co-teacher, Mrs. Catherine Yoder, for her support and wisdom as we have walked through this year together. I have learned so much and will take those lessons learned with me into the future of my career.
I will miss these wonderful groups of people. You have left a lasting impression that I will carry with me. I look forward to seeing you perform in the future and wish you all the best! Now, be excited for your future, sing well, and know that you have made me proud!
Yours in song,
Mr. Shafer
